Each day it seems that there are more and more job seekers are hitting the streets after losing their jobs for a variety of different reasons. Losing your job is not easy on you and you need to be able to get help when it’s needed. Some of that help can come from your Employment Office.

As soon as you lose your job, this is probably the first thing you should do, is contact them and get yourself qualified for unemployment insurance benefits. Once you are qualified you will then need to file on a weekly basis in order to continue to get your benefits. One of the easiest ways to do that is to do it online.

You of course will need to have your own computer or access to one that has an Internet connection. After you have done that, you will need to go to your state’s employment website and look for their weekly benefit claims option.

After you have done that you will need to sign up and create yourself a pin number so that you can access the claim line each week You will also need to provide the system with your Social Security number as well. Once you have done this will then be moved onto the next page where you will be asked a serious of yes or no questions.

You will be asked if you looked for work that week, if you were willing to work all the hours required for your kind of work, were you away from where you normally look for work more than so many days in a row, were you able to work physically and mentally, etc. You will also be asked if you did work and if so how many hours and how much money did you receive.

If you answer yes to this you need to include the information requested. If you earned more than the amount they allow you then for that week you could be denied your claim or your check amount might only be decreased.

If your answer was a no to the having worked there may be questions that you will not have to answer and you will be able to move onto the next step of filing your claim for that week. Once you have answered all of the required questions you will then move onto the process of finalizing your claim and certifying that all of your answers are correct and then you just click on “agree”.

Once you confirm all of your answers it will then advise you that your claim for that week has been successfully processed and there is nothing else for you to do. If something is wrong with your claim there will be a message for you to contact your local Employment Office. If there are no problems you should expect to see your check in the next 3 to 4 days.
