So you’ve been out pounding the streets for a job recently and finally you’ve been called in for that ever elusive interview. Even though you might be excited, at the same time you are probably dreading that one question that nearly every prospective employer asks and that would be “What would you say were your strengths and weaknesses?” Here are some ways that you can get yourself prepared for that question.

Believe it or not one of the easiest ways and even fun way to discover what your strengths as well as your weaknesses are is by going online and finding one of those personality tests that are offered online. When you find them, you can then take several of these tests to help build yourself a personality profile. This is a good thing to do for all job seekers no matter what kind of job they might be looking for. There’s pretty much a 99.9% chance that you will be asked this question.

After you have taken each free test you need to take a piece of paper and jot down all of the strengths and weaknesses that they have come up for you. This is kind of the most fun being able to discover things about yourself that you may not even have realized prior to taking these tests. Make sure to especially notate the things that really sounds like you.

Once you have done this, you should begin to analyze the strengths that were pointed out. You should always start with positive things. Take the positive items on your list and then compare them to the description of the job.

Try, if possible to omit the weaknesses that you feel go a long with the job description. You know what they are and can try to improve upon them without the employer realizing that they exist.

Once you have done all of this, you should be ready for that ever dreadful yet important interview question of “What would you say were your strengths and weaknesses?”
