It is not always easy for any of us when we are working to get a long with all of the different personalities that we work with on a daily basis. Face it, people can be difficult and they can be strange at times with the different strange habits or behaviors they might have.

This can be quite frustrating at times. Especially if you are dealing with other employees that are always late, they don’t do a very good job or they simply do things that just outright annoy you. You can however; learn to cope with these kinds of co-workers and not let those kinds of employees ruin a job that you actually like. Here are some pointers on how to cope with employees that really bug you.

One of the first things that you should do is to sit down and try to figure out what exact behaviors exist with a certain person that really pushes your buttons. You need to try and pinpoint this precisely if you can. It’s a lot easier to be able to face specific ways they behave than taking on the whole person. Because it’s rare that everything a person does is annoying.

You should try and figure out what good things your fellow employee brings to the table as well. A lot of co-employees do have something good to bring to the table. This is important to note even if their bad qualities outnumber their good ones. You need to give them credit for the good behaviors and good traits that they do have.

Then you need to ask yourself a very important question. Why do you even care about the bad habits or behaviors that other employees have? Sometimes you can drive yourself nuts getting all wrapped up with the things that other employees do and half the time it’s probably not even directed at them. If you have some of your own issues as well, you need to consider that you deal with your own first before you even consider theirs.

If you are the kind of person that seems to get caught up in things that don’t even have an effect on you, back off and stop letting yourself get involved. Other employees bad choices generally will not have any kind of affect on your job and where you stand within the country so why let yourself get sucked into their issues and problems? You don’t need the drama so get out of it by just ignoring it.

However; there might be times where a person’s behavior might have an impact on your job and you should try to figure out how to manage the situation. For instance if you are expecting some information that you need to finish your project on time but they don’t get the work to you, you make sure that the next time you have something to do that depends on their work as well, make sure to add that extra time it takes to get their information into your work timetable. If this doesn’t work, find a way to do your work without their help and if you have to, take it to your boss.

At all cost, take care of yourself and your job. If you are working in an environment that is becoming hostile because of certain behaviors of fellow employees you need to take the issue to your human resources department or personnel department and let them know that you feel some of the things people are doing that are hampering your ability to work. Make sure before you do this however that you have kept good documentation about everything that has happened, otherwise your efforts might be sabotaged by the person you are reporting.

Note: Never allow yourself to get overly involved or fixated on another employee and what they do. If you find that even your boss and the personnel department can’t help you with a particularly bad situation then you may have to start looking for another job.
